On September 27, 2023, TRAI issued a consultation paper concerning spectrum allocation for E&V bands and the bands supporting the existing Microwave Access (MWA) and Microwave Backbone (MWB) spectrum. The E&V bands are currently unused, while the MWA and MWB bands already have numerous assignments to telecom service providers to facilitate backhauling traffic from the established base stations (BTS).
It’s important to note that a significant portion of these bands (mentioned above) is already under consideration for assignment to satellite providers, as outlined in the TRAI’s consultation paper of April 3, 2023. As regards this consultation, extensive discussions with stakeholders have occurred, and TRAI is in the final stages of formulating its recommendations.
