The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has raised concerns regarding Over-The-Top (OTT) service providers reaping substantial revenues at the expense of telecom operators’ investments. Consequently, COAI argues that the Government of India should require OTT platforms to obtain licenses and share a portion of the investment costs borne by telecom companies. These OTT services, offering functionalities similar to those of traditional telecom services, should, according to COAI, adhere to the principle of “Same Service, Same Rules.”
